The Canadian snowboarding community has been devastated by the death of Mark Howe, a member of the Australian snowboard community.
His death was tragic, and the loss of an Olympic hero has hit home hard for our sport.
We’ve been doing the best we can for Mark, and we will continue to do so.

The team is also comprised of two former Olympic snowboardsmen.
Former Olympic snow boarder Chris Wood, who has now turned professional in snowboarding, will be joining the team as an instructor.
Wood has also recently become a father, and will be taking part in the team training camp in the coming months.
Snowboarder Andrew Stokes, who is the captain of Team Canada and also a snowboarding great, is set to also take part in Team Canada’s training camp.

The first time we went to Sochi in 1988, it was our first time, so we have a pretty good idea of what it’s like to go through it,” Howe told the ABC’s ABC radio program Q&A on Monday.”
But this is an Olympic year, it’s a big event and there’s going to be a lot of things that you’re going to have to overcome.
“In Sochi, Team Canada will compete with four other Olympic-winning teams, including former World Snowboarder of the Year Mark Koehler, who will be representing the US in the Winter Games.
The United States won gold in the women’s snowboarding at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, but the US team will have to defend its crown at Sochi.
The US team also has the support of Team USA, which has won gold at the Sochi Games in 2008.
Team Canada’s four Olympic medals have been: silver in the downhill slopestyle at the 2012 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, gold in snowboard in the 2008 Winter Olympics, silver in snow-boarding at Sochi and gold in downhill in the 2013 Winter Olympics.
