Manali snow sport parties to expand next year

Manali, India —  Snow sports is growing in popularity in Manali this year.

The capital of Madhya Pradesh has hosted a snow sports party since August.

“Our capital city is very popular with snow sports enthusiasts, we are looking forward to having snow sports parties in our city too,” said Prabhjot Singh, chief executive officer of the local tourism department.

Snowsports have been in the spotlight for many years.

In December 2017, a boy was killed when a man in a snow mask was attacked by two people on the Jorapur-Dharwad highway.

Two months later, a young woman died in the same area after falling from a hilltop.

More than 60 people were injured.

Last year, snow sport enthusiasts staged an anti-snow protest in the city.

One of the protests in the capital was held in December when more than 2,000 people were seen participating in snow sports.

Manali is a popular tourist destination in the north and has been home to the annual festival since the 1920s.

According to the Tourism Department, the city has been hosting a snow sport event every year since 2005.

On average, Manali attracts up to 6,000 tourists to the city every year, according to the department.
